The New York Times reports new emails found by the FBI related to its closed investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server came from devices owned by Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin, a Clinton aide.
FBI Director James Comey notified Congress on Friday that the bureau had recovered emails in “connection with an unrelated case…that appear to be pertinent to the investigation” into Clinton’s private server.
The FBI closed its investigation this summer after finding no crime had occured. Federal prosecutors in New York had subponaed Weiner’s phone and other records in September after he allegedly sent explicit messages to an underage girl. Abedin announced she was divorcing Weiner shortly after the news.
